Weekend Reviews By Batesy Monday, 17 December, 2001
There has been a bit of activity in the Sports Goal world with 2 new reviews. The first one being over at Games Domain - where they have reviewed David Beckham Soccer (PSX), giving it an overall score of only 2.5 out of 5.
"It's not that David Beckham Soccer is an extremely bad, as it can be a laugh for brief periods of time and the excellent options are a lesson to every other football game out there to increase longevity. But the part that really matters - the way the game plays- feels rushed and incomplete, which is not something all too wise when the machine you're releasing it on has the likes of (wait for it) Pro Evolution doing the rounds."
Game Planet have also posted reviews of both the PS2 and PC version of FIFA 2002, giving both 4 out of 5.
"There is going to be a real love/hate relationship for many players with this newest addition to the FIFA stable. The gameplay is now far more arcade-oriented which may turn away some of the gamers who prefer soccer sims, and yet FIFA 2002 might have the opposite effect and grab the attention of arcade gamers who have ignored the series up until now."
Another FIFA 2002 Review By Batesy Friday, 14 December, 2001
If you like your FIFA 2002 reviews, another one has been posted over at The Armchair Empire.
Anyone lucky enough to have their hearing degraded 10% by a real soccer match should appreciate the overall good sound of FIFA. The crowd has the constant roar and the announcers are good. John Motson and Andy Grey provide play-by-play and color. Their banter is not as loud or grating as that found in NHL 2002 (as funny as it is at times). They have an understated way of saying practically everything.

First (Online) CM Quiz Review By Batesy Wednesday, 12 December, 2001
The non-management game from the makers of Championship Manager, CM Quiz, has received it's first online review - and overall, I would say that they got off to a good start:
"If you think a quiz game may not be the best use of their skills then think again. This isn't just a collection of thousands of football trivia questions with points scored for each correct answer - that would be too simple. The football fans at Sports Interactive have managed to create a quiz game that not only mixes football knowledge but also the rules and tactics involved in the sport too."

Latest Sports Goal News By Batesy Tuesday, 11 December, 2001
Although this news is a little dated now, there is some Sports Goal news to catch up with.
Firstly, it has been confirmed that Ubisoft will be releasing a new update of 'Alex Ferguson Player Manager'. It is set for a spring 2002 release on the PC and Playstation with a PS2 version also in the pipeline. Let's all give them a hand, because they have got to have some guts to be challenging the market Championship Manager owns.
Secondly, Konami's award winning Pro Evolution Soccer (Pro Evolution Soccer 2002) series is set to debut on Nintendo's new console, the 'GameCube' in February 2002 (Japan Only).
Hopefully this will be the beginning of some regular news posts at Sports Goal. Keep checking back for all the latest gaming news.
