MZ Back Online
MZ is back online at the moment, but it is running very slow, and the matches have been delayed (although you can work out the scores by seeing who scored in the matches).

Reason behind MZ's disappearance revealed?
Some forum members may have discovered the reason why ManagerZone is down - and the MZ Crew can't do anything about it!

The capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, ground to halt after a power outage struck the city and parts of neighbouring Sweden. It is believed that ManagerZone's hosts, City Network, are located in this region that was affected.

Apparently, the main transmission line connecting the two countries broke down. A technical director of the Swedish National Grid said "workers were working to repair the system and that power would return later in the day."

So fingers crossed that MZ will be back sometime today!

QPR FC win Premier League
QPR FC are the new Premier League champions after beating already relegated Canterbury AFC 3-2 in the last round of matches earlier today. This means QPR FC have won their league every season on the way to the top.

3-2 win that secured the title for QPR

Last seasons champs AFC Swish (or Dream Team as they are known at the moment) beat Ham Rangers 5-1 to secure the runner up position, while Dundlebugs beat Cardiff Vipers 5-0 and Camberley AFC beat FC Mount 2-1. Canterbury, Camberley and Cardiff Vipers will all be relegated.

Final Premier League standings

La Citta di Chelmsford, Unruly Behaviour and Egg Chasers or Edinburgh Knights will replace them in the Premier League for next season.

SG FL - Week 3 Round-Up
The first game of the week saw AFC Creamfields take on EPL side FC Mount at home. Both teams scored early on and both sides led at some stage in the match, however a winner nine minutes from time gave the home side a 4-3 victory. Chelmsford, Egg Chasers and Primate - finally getting their first win - all won away from home. Surreal and RamerPool drew 2-2.

On Wednesday, RamerPool drew 2-2 again, this time at home to Bésto. Chelmsford beat Creamfields 5-2 while FC Mount drew 3-3 with Surreal, giving Chelmsford a four point gap in second. Egg Chasers won however, keeping top spot still.

The final games of the week saw Surreal Madrid win an even and close game against Chelmsford, reducing their lead to just one point over third placed FC Mount, who beat Bésto 5-1 away. This allowed Egg Chasers the chance to move further away from the pack and they didn't turn the opportunity down. 3-1 away to Wayne Rooney, while Muse beat Creamfields 4-3 away and Primate picked up another three points with a 3-2 home win over RamerPool, finishing a good week for them as they not only got off the mark, but have moved off bottom spot.

Halfway through the league and Egg Chasers have a seevn point lead in what looks a forgone conclusion. The real battle will be for second place and to avoid finishing bottom.

Site isn't shutting down
As it appears, MZ and SG have come to an agreement and the site wont be shutting down. The site will be running as before.

The popup yesterday was caused by a move to a different server and has nothing to do with the shutdown rumors.

Shutting down
According to a thread in the MZ general forum, we are getting shutting down soon. Obviously, MZ hasn't been getting enough members from us, and they are shutting us down.

The question would be, what have they done for the community site? I've read something about it thrice, once it started, once promoted and then the banners...nothing else. Where have they been when we needed new newsposters, where have they been when we started doing logos? Nowhere, they couldn't possibly care less.

It would be good if everyone of you would go to the forums and raise your voice against shutting down. Anything would help, emailing the Crew, writing an article for the zone...anything.

Thanks ManagerZone, for nothing.

Thanks to everyone that cares.

MZ National Squads
SG Forum regular Chris Boston has massively reworked his National Squads site ahead of the MZ World Cup in Spring 2004. It allows you to submit your best players, so we can all see which nation has the best squad of players.

It is not official, but it is a great idea that makes MZ more fun.

More Foreigners
Johan has hinted that we could soon be seeing the limit on foreign players increased to 5.

This has lead to mass complaint from alot of managers happy with the arrangement as it is now, some going as far as to suggest that the limit should actually be decreased rather than increased, blaming the poor transfer market at this time, on the introduction of an international transfer market a few seasons ago.

SG FL - Week 2 Round-Up
Chelmsford faced FC Mount in a battle at the top of the league. Both teams were eager to play, despite it being a Monday morning, as the previous day both teams won, Chelmsford winning to take top spot in div1.2 and Mount the only team to manage a win in the EPL.

Despite Chelmsford having more scoring chances and possession, Mount's strikers were fully awake and managed a 2-1 win, and showed why they're still in the top league in England for another season. Meanwhile, Egg Chasers' 3-0 win over Surreal Madrid saw them go top. Wayne Rooney and Muse managed tight away wins (92nd minute winner for Rooney), while the highest scoring match was a 3-3 draw between Bésto and Creamfields thanks to the away side finding the back of the net late on.

Midweek saw a fairly close match between AFC Muse and FC Mount, with the away side ending up desered victors, 3-1. Egg Chasers won 5-1 to stay ahead of Mount in first place, while Bésto, Creamfields and Rooney all picked up 1-0 wins.

The final matches of the week saw Chelmsford face div1.2 rivals AFC Muse. Muse took an early lead and despite constant pressure, Chelmsford couldn't find the back of the net. Finally an equaliser came, and it looked to finish a draw until two late goals sealed the three points their performance deserved. Wayne Rooney is a god 02 managed a 1-1 draw away to FC Mount which was a boost to their side, while Surreal Madrid won 4-1 away, as did AFC Creamfield, their scoreline being 2-1. Egg Chasers won 6-0 to remain top, now three points clear after Mount's slip-up.

Player Ages
It has been proved that a bunch of mz players, all celebrating their birthdays, did not go out and find the fountain of youth that made them one year younger, as first reported. It was a small mis-calculation that the Crew have fixed.
Posted by Ponte

Player age
A few days ago some players suddenly became one year younger.
This was because of an error when calculating if the players birthday had passed or not during the season.
This error has now been corrected and the age shown on the players now should be the correct one.

SG FL - Week 1 Round Up
La Citta di Chelmsford took a two point lead over Egg Chasers FC after the first three games in the league.

LCDC got off to a great start on Monday, winning 7-2 at home to SFC Bésto, with a convincing win including two free kick goals. FC Mount had a similar scoreline, also at home, beating Primate United with four goals from Percy Gearan. Surreal Madrid C.F. caused an upset by beating div1.2 side AFC Muse away, while RamerPool grabbed a 2-2 draw away to Egg Chasers.

Wednesday then saw FC Mount take top spot on goal difference after a 4-0 win over RamerPool, while Muse and Chelmsford both managed tough 2-1 away wins against Bésto and RamerPool.

Egg Chasers then took second place on Friday with a 5-1 away win against FC Mount, who didn't get much of a look in. And they could go top if they win against Madrid and Chelmsford fail to beat Mount. If not, they play LCDC afterwards, and could then take top spot then.

MZ Center
Karabas has opened his site: MZ Center.

An interesting idea on the site, is the ability to vote in polls concerning various ideas on how MZ could be improved. The results would be published to show Crew what is popular amongst their customers.

Challenge Away!
The challenge page has now been activated for MZ Hockey meaning the first games can be played tomorrow (or today if you were quick enough off the mark).

When they are played there will be no text commentary. The only way to view the games will be using MZ Live (which will be available for free for Hockey managers until the season starts.

The friendly games bring in no income.
