The Help System
A four-level-help-system supports you getting started with "Total Club Manager 2003".
1. General Information Help Screens
There are help buttons in the top right of many of the most important screens. These offer general information on each area.
When you enter a screen the very first time you play, the help screen is displayed automatically to give you some information about your options.
2. Tooltips
For more specific help, many of the sub-headings have tool-tips attached, just position the mouse cursor over the heading of your choice, and after a second, a help box will appear. Also, pay close attention to your mouse cursor, if the left or right side glows red, you can press the left or right button for further options (player info screens, club info screens, match reports, country info screens).
Also all the abbreviations used as column headers have tooltips with an explanation, too.
3. Warnings
To ensure that you do not forget to carry out important tasks before the end of a match day, an alarm feature is included in all menu items:
If an alarm is showing, you can click directly on the menu item and solve the problem. If you need information on what exactly you need to do, click on the alarm icon (red) and a help message is displayed.
4. Employees
Employees are an important element of "Total Club Manager 2003". First of all, they allow you as manager to assign certain tasks to an assistant. If you are not interested in a particular game element (e.g. selling merchandise items), you do not have to deal with this at all in the game.
You can assign tasks at the beginning of a game, but also change them again at a later point.
Volunteers
Usually, your employees are volunteer workers that do not cost your club any money and that perform well anyway.
Experts
The game features plenty of experts with additional abilities who can help you fulfil your tasks even better. Even if you deal with a certain area yourself, they still act in the background.
Those employees are hired on a special transfer market for employees.
Assistant manager as an example
Let`s take the example of a very important employee: the assistant manager. You can assign him certain tasks in case of different menu options in the game.
| Menu option | Tasks | | Line-up | Automatic formation of the team Automatically determine players on the bench | | Tactics | Determine tactics Assign tasks (penalty takers etc.) | | Training | Determine training schedule Deal with single players in particular | | Shortlist | Make suggestions concerning interesting players | | Calendar | Plan friendlies and tournaments | | Ingame | Make substitutions during the match Change tactics during the match |
Let`s take the training as an example. If you intend to employ an assistant manager, you have a huge choice. However, other clubs will also be interested in them.
After you have made an offer for an employee, you will be notified by the end of the week whether you were successful or whether you should have offered more money.
Any assistant manager in the game has his own abilities. There are
specialists for the improvement of stamina,
specialists for the general improvement of player abilities,
specialists for particularly good suggestions,
specialists for particularly player abilities (e.g. heading),
specialists for several abilities (e.g. quickness),
specialists for team strategies,
specialists for single training.
By the way, you are not limited to one assistant manager, but can also employ two assistants. This is in particular useful if your team is divided into groups for their training sessions.
Other employees
What we have demonstrated concerning the assistant manager is available in FM2003 for 14 specialists. For some positions, you can also choose two employees (scouts up to six).
All in all, more than 140 special abilities with 5 levels respectively are available.
Super experts
For any task, one super expert is available. He appears in the game again and again. You need to compete with the best clubs in Europe if you want to employ any of those super experts.
