Introduction: 4-4-2 Diamond is a good all round tactic, combining attack with defence.

Formation: 2 Central Defenders, 2 Wing Backs, 1 Central Midfielder, 2 Wide Midfielders, 1 Attacking Midfielders and 2 Strikers.

Important Players: Your Central and Attacking midfielders hold the key. Your attacking midfielder will get forward providing and scoring goals. Your central midfielder must be able to hold the midfield together and preferably would have good defensive and passing skills. It is especially good if your CM has good leadership qualities ie. Chief.

When to use this tacitc: I use this tactic as my starting formation. It's a good all round tactic and provides a good level of attack with defence (provided you're CM is good defensively).

How to use this tactic: I used mixed passing and generally I go down the centre of the pitch because you want to use your AM as much as possible.

Modifications: You can vary this tactic slightly to be more defesive. You can have full backs instead of wing-backs and a defensive midfielder can be a good alternative to your CM.
